The Posts are in!!!!!!

Ken the Carpenter has placed the bottom four posts to the wrap around porch on the south side of the building and it looks great!!!

It's coming along nicely and next week we will have the balcony started!!!!

Week of April 8th

We have started back in to finish the exterior of the hotel....
The South side of the building was in great need of repair in a hurry.  We were finally able to start and found something wonderful......

Here the south side porch had layers of wall coverings and needed to be pulled away.....the great find we saw was that there were TWO layers of siding underneath!!!

If anyone has ever tried to match wooden siding on an old house then you will know how hard it is to find a match......









But as you can see on the picture to the left--there are two layers that we can use.  The original siding in off white and the other layer on top which will be used for the rest of the house.  We have a whole side wall full!!!  So exciting......

Here the wrap around porch is finally seen as it was originally in the top picture.  So exciting to see the progress....

Hayride 2 Filmed at the hotel

A movie was filmed at The Old Loxley Hotel last week on January 24th. It was quite exciting to watch the action as the crew set up and filmed a small part of the film Hayride 2.  Apparently Hayride was filmed in Mobile and distributed in 2012 which tells of the story of a college student returning home for Halloween and forced to face his childhood fears when an escaped killer takes refuge in his family's "Haunted Hayride". .

Now Terron Parsons and his crew will be creating another horror/drama movie to continue the story. They came to set up around 4pm that afternoon and then the fun began.  The Mobile Police department started showing up in trucks and vans with assault rifles and protective vests like you see in the movies....







They practiced their search and seizure skills and then the filming began.

Getting dark as filming continued

The whole filming took three hours and there was even time for filming an interview with me about the hotel for their "behind the scenes" section of the DVD.  I'm hoping this little bit of notoriety will give the hotel some exposure.....Great fun!!!
